InnoSwitch3-AQ long creepage switcher ICs improve reliability in 800 V electric vehicles

The AEC-Q100-qualified InnoSwitch3-AQ flyback switcher IC is now available in a long creepage option. The wide 5.1 mm spacing between drain and source pins eliminates the need for resin coating in 800V electric vehicle (EV) applications. Housed in Power Integrations' proprietary InSOP-28G package, the 1700V-rated ICs easily meet the IEC60664-1 isolation standard for 800V EVs, while simplifying manufacturing and improving system reliability.

・µDC-DC converter
Control circuit
・Emergency power supply for main traction inverter

The new package provides a larger primary distance, allowing the IC to be powered with 1000VDC while maintaining safety isolation in pollution degree 2 environments, and also improves resistance to shock and vibration.

With an integrated silicon carbide primary-side power switch, the new ICs deliver up to 80W of power output, are up to 90% efficient, and consume less than 15mW at no load. The InnoSwitch3-AQ IC family achieves better than ±1% output regulation using secondary-side control and integrated magnetic inductive isolation barrier communication technology (FluxLink). This high level of integration reduces the number of components required in the power supply by approximately 50%, saving space and easing procurement challenges.
