Battery Cell Controllers from NXP

NXP's Li-ion battery cell controllers sense vital cell characteristics (voltage, temperature, current) and provide highly accurate cell balancing.

It meets the requirements of automotive and industrial equipment, making it ideal for automotive battery management, energy storage systems, and uninterruptible power supply applications.

NXP Li-Ion Battery Cell Controller Solution Block Diagram

The lithium-ion battery cell controller solution provided by NXP consists of multiple ICs as shown in the diagram on the right.

 

・Cell controller: MC33771C, MC33772C

The MC33771C is capable of "cell voltage" and "cell balancing control" for 7 to 14 cells.

It has seven analog input pins capable of measuring temperature, and devices with a P in the model number have a current measurement function.

By connecting in a daisy chain, it is possible to control up to 800 cells.

 

- High-speed isolation transformer communication conversion IC: MC33664

This is a conversion IC that enables communication between a microcontroller and a transformer physical layer (TPL) isolation transformer.

 

・General-purpose automotive microcontrollers: S32K1, S32K3

By utilizing the S32 automotive microcontroller platform provided by NXP, development of automotive applications can be realized more smoothly.
