Nuvoton Technology's audio playback ICs are low-cost single-chip products with built-in Flash and speaker amplifiers. These audio playback ICs are available in the Nuvoton Sound Processor (NSP) series. Equipped with I2C and UART interfaces for connection to a host MCU, they enable simultaneous two-channel playback. They also feature a built-in speaker amplifier with a maximum output of 3W and an ISP (In-System Programming) function that enables content updates after mass production. Nuvoton offers user-friendly software and hardware development tools to quickly and easily implement audio playback functionality.

NSP PlayList Editor Tool

Example of I2C connection to host MCU

Using the dedicated software "NSP PlayList Editor Tool", you can easily import audio and assign it to an index number (the maximum index number for NPS2340A is 65535). After that, you can simply write the audio to the IC, and it will receive simple commands from an external MCU to play the specified audio.

The diagram on the right is an example of an I2C connection with the host MCU. This can be achieved simply by sending playback commands and numbers from the host MCU via the serial interface. This also minimizes MCU resource consumption.
