AgileSwitch® gate driver

What is an AgileSwitch® gate driver?

AgileSwitch® (2ASC Gate Driver Intelligent Configuration Tool) is a tool used for Microchip's SiC power modules. We provide software and corresponding gate driver core boards that allow system designers to fine-tune the power module drive conditions to their application. For example, VGS and DESAT fall in steps to suppress undershoot and SW loss.

Configuring the AgileSwitch® Gate Driver

・Gate driver core board:
- Boards for circuits that generate gate waveforms, for 1200V and 1700V. Product example 2ASC-12A1HP

・Core adapter board:
- Adapter board for connecting the above gate driver core board with the module.
- Equipped with an output circuit that matches the corresponding module and is used in combination with the gate driver core board.
- Available for SP6 and 62mm modules. Product example: SP6CA1

・ICT software:
- Software that sets and inputs drive conditions to the power module and generates code.
- Write the generated code to the gate driver core board with a programmer.
- See the screen image below.

·programmer:
- A tool for writing code generated by ICT software to the gate driver core.
- See the diagram below for a connection image.
- The programmer "MPLAB® PICkit™ 4", which is also used for Microchip's MCU development, and the corresponding software MPLAB® IPE are used.

Instructions for using the AgileSwitch® gate driver

1) Set and input the drive conditions for the power module in the ICT software.

2) Compile the settings in 1) to create the code.

3) Write the code to the gate driver core board using a programmer.

4) Using the written gate driver core board and adapter board, operate the power module in the measurement circuit and system circuit, and check the operating state with waveforms.

5) If you want to reconfigure the driver core, go back to step 1).

CAUTION: Working with high voltage devices can be life threatening. It is imperative that all safety precautions and safety regulations are observed.
