Product Summary

MIC33M350 is a power module (switching regulator with built-in inductor) with input voltage range: 2.4-5.5V, 3A output, 3.0mm×4.5mm×1.8mm 24pin QFN package.

9 types of output voltage (0.6V, 0.8V, 0.9V, 1.0V, 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V) with 2 input terminals (3 types of input of High/Low/Hi-Z, 3^2=9) V, 2.5V, 3.3V) can be selected, and it is compatible with automotive reliability standards (AEC-Q104) and various EMI standards (CISPR32 ClassB, CISPR 25 Class5).

Advantages of using MIC33M350

少ない評価工数・最小の外付け部品で設計可能

The built-in inductor, which requires the most attention when using a switching regulator, reduces the man-hours associated with inductor selection and evaluation. In addition, as shown in the peripheral circuit diagram below, the only external parts are the power line input/output and internal logic reference capacitors, making it possible to use a high-efficiency switching power supply as easily as an LDO.

Easy noise suppression

Low noise is achieved by optimizing the wiring between the switching node (built-in FET) and inductor, which is the main cause of radiation noise, to be as short as possible.

Below is a comparison of the internal block diagrams of the MIC33M350 (with built-in inductor) and the MIC23350 (with external inductor), and you can see that the red line above can be made the shortest by incorporating the inductor.

As a result, radiation noise can be suppressed, and in the following two EMI standards, CISPR32 ClassB (multimedia equipment) and CISPR25 Class5 (in-vehicle equipment), which are the most demanding, can be complied with. External components for EMI countermeasures (inductors for filters, capacitors, etc.) are no longer required, leading to cost reductions.

high versatility

No feedback resistor, 9 different output voltages can be selected with 2 terminals, and the same part number can be used for multiple power rails. In addition, Pincon's sister product MIC33M356 has two I2C terminals, and it is possible to specify the output voltage more precisely, such as 5mV (0.6V-1.28V), 10mV or 20mV (0.6V-3.84V) increments.

Small size possible

Below is a comparison of evaluation board photos of MIC33M350 (internal inductor) and MIC23350 (external inductor) using the same DCDC controller.

As you can see, the circuit size, including the external components, can be reduced by incorporating an inductor.
