Product Summary
Power Manager II [Pac-Power] is a power sequencing/monitoring device with built-in PLD. Programmability can be designed on a free development tool that completes with a GUI, so it is possible to significantly reduce the design man-hours for power supply control/monitoring circuits. Especially in cases where the power supply circuit is composed of discrete components, it is possible to achieve a one-chip configuration, which can provide various advantages.
Installed hardware and functions
PLD
It has a built-in CPLD and On-Chip Oscillator for configuring sequence control, and can programmatically create any power supply sequence. In addition, it has up to 6 Digital Inputs, and it is possible to incorporate arbitrary signals into the sequence.
Analog Input
Up to 12 channels of analog input are possible. A comparator for voltage monitoring is connected to each input port. By incorporating the comparator output into the sequence, it is possible to create a sequence based on the actual voltage and monitor voltage abnormalities during system operation. It can monitor from 0V to 5.75V, the comparator can be set up to 368 trip points, and the monitoring can be set with a high resolution of 15-20mV.
It also has two comparators per channel, enabling window monitoring (excluding POWER605/POWER607). It is also possible to support monitoring of voltages outside the specified range (including negative voltages) by installing an external circuit.
Open Drain Output
The output is 5V tolerant open drain. Sequence control is possible by inputting to the Enable Port of the DC/DC converter. In addition, it has up to 4 channels of 12V tolerant Open Drain output ports, and can also drive MOSFETs. (Except POWER605)
ADC
The POWER1220AT8/POWER1014A series has a 10-bit ADC and can read analog input values externally via the I2C interface.
TRIM Control
POWER1220AT8 has 8ch trim output port. By connecting to a DC/DC converter with a trim port, it is possible to stabilize the output voltage with an accuracy of ±1% or less. In Power Manager II [Pac-Power], monitoring voltage is read by ADC and fed back, so you can expect stable output under temperature and aging while using inexpensive DC/DC. In addition, since 4 sets of output values can be held per channel, it can be used for upper and lower limit inspections in shipping inspections.
Example of product use
The figure below is just an example, so please feel free to contact us from the inquiry button at the bottom of this page regarding the feasibility.
An example of a boot sequence. Wake-up signals and analog supervisory signals of small devices such as CPLDs can be incorporated into the sequence within the PLD.
