Fortanix Announces Armet AI, Enabling Enterprises to Build Secure, Compliant, Custom-Generated AI Applications to Reduce Data Breach Risk
On April 7, 2025, Fortanix (headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA) announced the public preview of Fortanix Armet AI, a platform that enables enterprises to build custom generative AI (GenAI) applications while reducing the risk of sensitive data exposure.
Armet AI is powered by Intel Confidential Computing and Intel Tiber Trust Authority and runs on NVIDIA H100 GPU-powered confidential VMs in Microsoft Azure, which protect data while it's in use, preventing unauthorized access and data tampering.
Key features of Armet AI
- World-class security: Protect all data at rest, in transit, and in use
- Role-based access control: Data access and viewing permissions can be finely tuned and monitored
AI Guardrails: Automatic masking of sensitive information, filtering of harmful inputs and outputs
・REST API and connectors: Connect to any data source
- Secure chat interface: Allows secure and private interactions with internal documents
・GenAI Security Dashboard: Real-time monitoring and risk prevention support
Background and Significance
Many companies believe that off-the-shelf GenAI solutions have security and reliability concerns, such as the risk of confidential data and intellectual property being leaked or maliciously tampered with. Meanwhile, Gartner reports that developing GenAI in-house can be complex and costly, taking an average of 8.5 months and costing up to $ 20 million in upfront costs.
