From discovering quantum risks to PQC response: New features to strengthen organizational preparedness and threat defense

On June 24, 2025, Fortanix (headquarters: Santa Clara, California, USA) announced a new feature, "PQC Central," to support the transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC). This feature is incorporated into "Key Insight" within the company's "Fortanix Armor" platform, and enables companies to take strategic measures to prepare for the threat of quantum computers.

Key features of PQC Central

  • Discovery: Scan systems and services that use algorithms vulnerable to quantum cryptography, and visualize dependencies and assets.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify vulnerable keys and quantify whether services vulnerable to quantum computers are protected by appropriate algorithms.
  • Development of a transition plan (PQC Transition): Track the PQC status of the entire environment from a centralized dashboard. Then, link with IT operations tools such as ServiceNow and Jira to build a roadmap for PQC transition.
  • Crypto Agility: Ability to support new cryptographic algorithms without changing existing key management systems or HSMs

Supported Algorithms

  • Leighton-Micali Signature(LMS
  • Xtended Merkle Signature Scheme(XMSS
  • CRYSTALS-Kyber(ML-KEM
  • CRYSTALS-Dilithium(ML-DSA

Background and Significance

With the evolution of quantum computers, it is possible that current encryption technologies will no longer be able to guarantee security, and companies must take action now. EU member states have announced a roadmap to begin the transition to PQC by the end of 2026, making global action urgent.
