By using non-genuine products, users can optimize network construction and operation costs and gain operational flexibility. We asked Asahi Net, who started the challenge, about its purpose and response.

Asahi Net is a long-established company in the ISP industry that provides various communication services centering on the Internet connection service "ASAHI Net" and the IPv6 connection service "v6 Connect". In 2020, the company decided to drastically change the procurement method of network equipment with the replacement of the core router. I chose a third-party non-genuine product for the optical transceiver that I used by inserting it into my router.

"There are two reasons for this," says Mr. Tatsumi of Asahi Net's System Infrastructure Department. One is cost reduction. The other is simplification of management and operation.
