The Bourns SSA-2 series is an analog current sensor with a built-in shunt resistor that is less susceptible to external magnetic fields than the Hall effect type and provides excellent current measurement stability.The analog type features are designed to achieve high performance, aiming for a detection accuracy of ±0.1% and linearity of ±0.1% across the entire current range, enabling stable current detection that is less susceptible to temperature drift.
Furthermore, the sensor's internal shunt resistor eliminates the need for shunt wiring on the board, simplifying layout design. This current sensing solution is suitable for a wide range of applications, including battery systems, renewable energy facilities, and motor drives, which require high accuracy and stability.

Output voltage vs. temperature characteristics

The small output fluctuations, even with temperature changes, demonstrate that the series is less susceptible to temperature drift and enables stable current detection even in industrial environments.
Built-in shunt resistor for easy layout
The diagram on the left shows the structure of the SSA-2 series, which incorporates the shunt resistor inside the IC. This eliminates the need to mount the shunt resistor on the board and run thick current lines as in the past, significantly reducing the layout load of high-current paths.
This structure enables shortening of wiring distance and reduction of noise sources, making it easier to design current detection circuits, which is one of the features of the SSA-2 series.
