AEC-Q200 compliant chip ferrite beads, supporting up to 5A in high-density PCB assemblies.
Riverside, California – June 3, 2026 – Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, announced the MH1608A series of high-current chip ferrite beads, designed for automotive-grade, AEC-Q200 compliance, and high-frequency noise suppression in space-constrained electronic designs. The series features a small 1.6mm x 0.8mm footprint, low DC resistance, and a maximum current rating of 5A, enabling EMI suppression in high-density PCB layouts without increasing conduction losses.
As current density increases in automotive and industrial electronic systems, designers must suppress both conducted and radiated noise within limited board space while ensuring thermal margins and meeting certification requirements. Conventional ferrite beads may result in a trade-off between EMI suppression performance and power efficiency due to current capacity limitations and increased DC resistance. These constraints become even more pronounced in high-density mounting where wiring and component placement flexibility is limited. The MH1608A series addresses these design challenges by enabling higher current capacity in a small, automotive-grade package.
"High-current automotive designs require EMI suppression components that do not become thermal or electrical bottlenecks," says Edward Liu, Magnetics Product Line Manager at Bourns. "The MH1608A series is designed to meet AEC-Q200 requirements while providing higher current handling in a small footprint, helping to simplify component selection in high-density automotive layouts," he adds.
