Nine new fuse models supporting up to 7A/72V have been added, expanding design options with SMD packaging.

Riverside, California – March 2, 2026 – Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, announced an expansion of its Multifuse® MF-LSMF high-power surface-mount polymer PTC (PPTC) resettable fuse series. Nine new models are added, offering a wider Ihold range up to 7.0A and voltage ratings up to 72V, further expanding design options. Among them, the MF-LSMF600/16X model (16VDC, 6.0A) is available in a space-saving 2920 SMD package.

The entire MF-LSMF fuse series incorporates Bourns®'s proprietary freeXpansion™ technology, delivering higher retention current, improved voltage withstand capability, and enhanced resistance stability while maintaining a compact footprint. These features meet the demanding application requirements of low DC voltage ports such as USB, IEEE 1394, and powered Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) ports. Designed to protect circuits from both overcurrent and overheating events within specified limits, they are ideal for low-voltage communications equipment, industrial control equipment, security systems, and portable electronic devices.

Furthermore, the SMD terminals in the MF-LSMF series are plated with electroless nickel/gold (ENIG) to improve component reliability and long-term durability. In contrast, nickel-tin (Ni/Sn) plating, commonly used in competing products, is prone to problems such as whisker formation, oxidation, and corrosion, which can lead to fuse short circuits, reduced solder quality, and even premature degradation of electronic circuits.

The nine new models in the Bourns® MF-LSMF high-power surface-mount PPTC resettable fuse series are now available, are RoHS compliant (*1), and halogen-free (*2).
