New foil resistors designed for today's most demanding applications deliver high accuracy, stability, and performance

Riverside, Calif. — December 2, 2025 — Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, introduces four Riedon™ foil resistor series. The FWP227x series, FWP218 series, FWP220/221 series, and FWU series are designed to meet demanding application requirements for precision, stability, performance, and reliability.

The latest foil resistors feature high power ratings from 6 W to 80 W, resistance values from 0.001 Ω to 150 kΩ, excellent long-term stability, and TCRs from ±1 to ±300 ppm/°C. Four series are constructed with a metal foil resistive element mounted on a ceramic substrate with excellent thermal conductivity. Furthermore, this metal foil resistive element offers design benefits such as very low inductance, low noise, and high reliability. These construction advantages make Bourns' Riedon™ FWU, FWP218, FWP220/221, and FWP227x series foil resistors ideal measurement and control solutions for a wide range of applications, including current sensing, industrial equipment, consumer products, communications equipment, battery management systems (BMS), DC-DC converters, and motor drive designs.

The new resistor series is offered in the following package types to help designers match their application-specific requirements:
FWP227x series: TO-227 package
・FWP218 series: TO-247 package
FWP220 series: TO-220 and D2PAK packages
・FWP221 series: TO-221 package
FWU Series: TO-220 and D2PAK packages

Bourns' Riedon™ FWU, FWP218, FWP220/221, and FWP227x series foil resistors are currently available and are RoHS compliant.
