21 unidirectional and bidirectional models available, with a wide operating peak reverse voltage range from 12V to 30V

Riverside, Calif. — November 19, 2025 — Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, introduces the 5.0SMDJ Series of transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes. Housed in a space-saving, compact DO-214AB package, the new series is designed to provide effective electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection in applications such as portable, computing, and video equipment. The Bourns® 5.0SMDJ Series includes 13 unidirectional and eight bidirectional models.

These new TVS diodes, with their high-performance energy absorption and clamping capabilities, offer designers the flexibility to choose from a wide operating peak reverse voltage range from 12 V to 30 V. The 5.0SMDJ series features a peak pulse power of 5,000 W, a breakdown voltage of up to 36.8 V, and a fast response time of clamping in less than 1 ns after breakdown initiation. This series has also been tested to JEDEC standards.

Bourns® 5.0SMDJ Series TVS Diodes are currently available and are RoHS compliant(※1) and halogen-free(※2).
