Automotive-grade, AEC-Q200-compliant current sense resistors — designed for applications requiring small size, high accuracy, and low error

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — July 8, 2025 — Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, announced the addition of a compact surface-mount device (SMD) 2010 package to its automotive-grade, AEC-Q200-qualified CRF series of current-sense resistors. The CRF2010 model is designed to meet the small size, high-precision resistance, and low error requirements of battery management systems (BMS), switch-mode power supplies (SMPS), motor control, on-board power supply current control for electric vehicles (EVs), inverter phase current detection, and robotics current control applications.

Additionally, Bourns has added a high-power 3W version to its CRF2512 model current sense resistors (SMD 2512 size). The CRF2512 is AEC-Q200 compliant and features a low resistance value of 0.0003Ω and a low inductance of less than 5nH. These characteristics make this product ideal for applications such as power supply circuits, stepper motor drives, and input amplifiers.

The new CRF2010 model supports a resistance range of 1mΩ to 50mΩ with 1% and 5% resistance tolerances, a fixed TCR value of ±50ppm/°C, and a power rating of 1.5W. This current-sense resistor offers an impressive 1.5W power rating in a compact package. Additionally, the series' metal strip construction allows for smaller, thinner package designs and provides superior surge immunity compared to typical 2010-size resistors. It also offers the added benefit of providing automotive-grade reliability in demanding applications.

The Bourns® CRF2010 series and CRF2512 series high-power current sense resistors are available now and are RoHS compliant.
