Bourns® PF-PVC150R Series Meets UL 248-19 PV Protection Standard — Enhanced Voltage and Current Ratings Deliver High Performance

Riverside, Calif. — June 12, 2025 — Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, announced the PF-PVC150R Series POWrFuse™, a high-power fuse designed for photovoltaic (gPV) applications. This new series meets the UL248-19 standard required for gPV applications and features enhanced voltage and current ratings. The increased voltage rating enables the higher voltages required for next-generation solar power systems, while the expanded current range addresses a wider range of application needs and provides greater flexibility for research and development.

"The latest trend in solar applications, especially utility-scale and commercial systems, is to increase efficiency and reduce system costs by supporting higher voltages. From the traditional 1000VDC, 1500VDC systems are now becoming the new standard," said Jennifer Joseph, vice president, Protection Division, Bourns.

"the Company PF-PVC150R POWrFuse™ series is perfectly suited to this trend, enabling designs to lower system costs by reducing the number of inverters and wiring, while achieving higher efficiency by reducing I²R losses," he added.

The PF-PVC150R series offers a 1500VDC rating, a current range of 4 to 30A, and an interrupting capacity (IR) of up to 50kA, helping to increase power density and improve space efficiency. Two package configurations, ferrule terminal type and crimp cap type, are available, allowing for flexible selection based on the installation environment. These high-power fuses are compatible with large solar modules and long string configurations, providing the ideal protection solution for next-generation solar power generation systems.

The Bourns® PF-PVC150R Series POWrFuse™ High-Power Fuses are now available and are RoHS compliant(※1) and halogen-free(※2).
