RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- December 3, 2024 -- Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection and sensing solutions, introduces a new powerful, ultra-compact Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) series. Offerings in the GDT21 series are two-electrode devices designed to provide maximum impulse voltage limiting in a space-saving surface mount package. Bourns designed this new series specifically to meet the requirements of space-constrained applications requiring higher levels of protection against induced voltage transients such as lightning and AC switching loads.

The GDT21 series is offered in a compact EIA 1206 package and provides industry-leading surge protection for reliable performance in demanding environments. The series' advanced voltage limiting and fast response time help minimize stress on downstream components during fast-rising transient events. The GDT21 series also features a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C and a voltage range from 150V to 600V. The series offers extremely low capacitance to minimize insertion loss, making it ideal for maintaining signal integrity in communication systems as well as industrial controls, set-top Box, HVAC systems, antennas, and many other designs.
