Bourns has designed the latest AEC-Q200 compliant transformers to meet the compact, high power density requirements for automotive, industrial and energy storage applications.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – October 3, 2024 – Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection and sensing solutions, introduces its AEC-Q200 qualified, automotive low profile, high creepage isolation transformers. The Bourns® HVMA03F4A-LP8S series flyback transformers are designed to support high power density for high efficiency in a compact form factor. These features are required in a wide range of applications including gate drives and high voltage Battery Management Systems (BMS).
This new flyback transformer series expands Bourns' portfolio of low power, high creepage isolation transformers. The series operates from common 12V power supplies with an extended input voltage range of 10 to 24V and features a new coil mechanical design that helps improve system performance and safety. These features make the HVMA03F4A-LP8S series ideal for use with SiC, IGBT and GaN switching elements in automotive, industrial and energy storage applications.
The HVMA03F4A-LP8S series features a center-tapped output to generate a ±5V supply to help bias the gate drive turn-on and off circuitry. The new series is AEC-Q200 qualified and uses basic insulation per IEC 60664-1, allowing for a maximum working voltage of 800VDC. It also features 8mm creepage and 2mm clearance, a hipot isolation voltage up to 2750VAC, and an extended operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C.
