Semiconductor strain sensor STREAL
Macnica brand semiconductor strain sensors, STREAL, are ultra-compact, highly accurate, and low power consumption. Conventional large-scale strain measurement systems have been integrated onto a semiconductor chip measuring just 2.5mm square, significantly improving ease of integration into equipment. To ensure smooth integration into customer equipment, the STREAL is offered in a module format equipped with a semiconductor chip. STREAL is available in two series. The SR300 series features low power consumption and is compatible with a variety of applications, including IoT. The SR500 series is ideal for industrial machinery that requires precise control, such as robots and machine tools.
STREAL Monitoring Unit NE Series
The "NE Series" strain monitoring unit was developed to enable strain sensing in harsh industrial environments.
Designed for industrial use, this unit can be used in environments where conventional measurement units are difficult to install and operate, such as environments where coolant or chips are scattered. Its robust IP67-compliant housing and high noise immunity support the acquisition of stable strain data in industrial settings.
The NE Series is compatible with both the SR300 and SR500 series. The sensor cable can be up to 10 meters long, allowing for flexible installation and a wide range of measurement points. Measurements can be started immediately after installation, from initial evaluations to proof-of-concept (PoC) applications.

Connection example
The NE Series offers flexible connection configurations to suit your needs, from evaluation and verification to permanent installation on-site. You can start sensing in the optimal way to suit your implementation phase and installation environment.
Pattern 1: Power supply from PC + data communication
Evaluation can be performed immediately using only a PC
Pattern 2: PoE power supply + Ethernet data communication
・Power is supplied from the PoE hub, and data communication is also unified via Ethernet.
・Can be connected to PCs and other devices via LAN cable
Pattern 3: Mobile battery/AC adapter power supply + wireless communication (Wi-Fi)
- Powered by a mobile battery/AC adapter, data communication to designated devices via Wi-Fi access point
Pattern 4: PoE power supply + wireless communication (Wi-Fi)
- Powered by PoE and transmits data to designated devices via Wi-Fi access points
* Customers must prepare their own Wi-Fi access point and host device (PC/CNC etc.).
Features
1. Dustproof and waterproof performance suitable for dusty and coolant environments
Dust and coolant splashes occur on a daily basis in manufacturing sites. The NE Series is designed for permanent operation in such environments, with dustproof and waterproof performance compliant with IP67. It is designed to minimize problems caused by environmental factors, allowing for continued use with peace of mind.
2. Stable noise resistance
The environment surrounding the measurement target is likely to be susceptible to electrical noise, with inverters and various other devices constantly operating. The NE Series is designed to obtain stable data even in noisy industrial environments. This prevents the situation of being unable to use the instrument due to excessive noise, and provides data that can be used for on-site decision-making.
3. Sensor cable length up to 10m for greater installation flexibility
In many cases, there is a distance between the sensor installation location and the data collection device. The NE Series allows for flexible installation with a sensor cable that can accommodate up to 10m. This helps you build a measurement environment that takes distance and installation restrictions into consideration.
*The 10m item is an optional purchase, and the standard included item is the 2m item.
