115XOPT-EXP-EVB is an optical sensor evaluation kit provided by Silicon Labs.
The evaluation kit includes Silicon Labs optical sensors Si1133 and Si1153 to measure and evaluate the following five functions:

1. High Performance UV Index (UV Index)

The UV index can be measured with the Si1133 sensor included in the evaluation kit.
In order to match the Erythemal curve, an independent UV sensor is used to measure the UV index with high accuracy.

2. Proximity sensor that can detect up to 200cm

Proximity detection from 0 to 200 cm can be evaluated with the optically designed Si1153 using a narrow angle LED and a 5 mm diameter lens.

3. Proximity sensor resistant to sunlight

Incorporating a 940nm optical bandpass filter and a 940nm LED, the Si1153-AA9X can be evaluated for applications in daylight conditions.

4. Ambient light sensor (ALS)

A resolution of <100mlx can be obtained even through sunglasses, and a dynamic range of up to 128klx can be set.

5. Gesture recognition

Three 850nm LEDs are mounted on the evaluation kit, and you can immediately check the gesture function.

This evaluation kit can be connected to a PC with a USB cable and the measured values of the optical sensor can be checked on the PC.
You can do that in just 4 steps.

Step 1. Prepare equipment required for evaluation

  • 1 PC (Windows 7 or 10)
  • Evaluation Kit 115XOPT-EXP-EVB
  • USB cable
  • Optical Sensor Software Tools

Prepare

*Optical Sensor Software Tools is dedicated development software that runs on a PC. It can be downloaded free of charge from the Silicon Labs site.

Step 2. Set the features you want to evaluate

Set the switches on the evaluation kit according to the optical sensor function you want to evaluate. Connect the PC and the evaluation kit with a USB cable.

Step 3. Launch Optical Sensor Software Tools

Start the Optical Sensor Software Tools on your PC, select the function you want to evaluate, and set it.

Step 4. Start your evaluation

Evaluation can be started by pressing the function start button in the Optical Sensor Software Tools.
