Since 2009, Power Research Electronics BV (PRE) has delivered over 10,000 modules as a power module supplier to OEM (charger) manufacturers. They comply with the latest environmental standards for CCS, CHAdeMO and acoustic noise levels. PRE's modules include V2G/V2H and 1000V DC ultra-fast charging capabilities. The module's ability to exchange power bi-directionally at 10 kW is a solar charging It is also ideal for charging from vehicles to the grid. NewMotion, one of the leaders in electrification, chose PRE's charging modules because of its expertise in fast-charging services.

With always the best solution for our customers as our core goal, PRE utilizes Qorvo's FET technology to improve the efficiency and power density of our 10kW bi-directional charger module.

PRE employed two Qorvo FETs in its 3-phase bi-directional EV charger design.

● UJ3C120080K3S (x16 per board)
● UF3C120040K3S (x6 per board)

By using Qorvo's 1200 V, low RDS(on) SiC FETs, PRE was able to reduce component count and improve overall efficiency from up to 95% to up to 96% at no additional cost. Unit performance using Qorvo's devices outperformed the company's existing Si and SiC MOSFET-based designs.

Low switching losses and high efficiency at low power levels were further advantages of Qorvo FETs, as this type of bi-directional converter often operates at low power. In addition, it was easy to adopt in the design because it was possible to drive the gate with a single power supply.

By integrating all these Qorvo FET advantages, PRE was able to maximize and highlight new levels of performance in highly innovative bi-directional converters.
