Solar Race Car Powered by PowiGaN: The Story of Team αCentauri (Video Length: approx. 4 min.)
Aaron Griesser, electronics lead and driver for αCentauri Solar Racing, reflects on how the team came to partner with Power Integrations.
PowiGaN-powered InnoSwitch3-EP switch ICs enable compact DC-DC converter designs, providing 20W to 50W output power for the solar race car's 12V system. The 95% efficiency and high reliability contributed greatly to the αCentauri team's successful debut at the 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. αCentauri was one of 12 teams to complete the 3,028km race from Darwin to Adelaide.
