Types of Microchip development tools and supported devices

Describes the types of Microchip non-volatile FPGA development tools and supported devices. Broadly speaking, there are two types of development tools, and the supported devices differ depending on the tool and version.

development tools

Libero® SoC

Libero® SoC software is an integrated development tool for Flash-based FPGAs. This integrated development tool supports industry-standard Synopsys SynplifyPro synthesis and Mentor Graphics ModelSim simulation, constraint management, programming, debugging tools, and secure programming.

Note) Libero® SoC PolarFire

Libero SoC PolarFire v2.3 will be the final version. Libero SoC PolarFire has been integrated in Libero SoC v12.0.

Libero® IDE

Libero® IDE software is an integrated development tool for Rad-Tolerant FPGAs, Antifuse FPGAs and legacy (including discontinued) Flash FPGAs.

This integrated development tool manages the entire design flow from design entry, logic synthesis, simulation, place and route, timing analysis and power analysis.

Support device

Table 1 shows the supported devices for each development tool.

The latest version of Libero SoC only supports PolarFire for G5 (5th generation) products, IGLOO2 for G4 (4th generation) products, SmartFusion2 and RTG4.

G3 (3rd generation) products IGLOO, SmartFusion, ProASIC3, Fusion, etc. are only supported in v11.9 and earlier versions.
