Product Summary

CoolSiC™ MOSFETs from Infineon are high voltage semiconductors designed for power conversion in chargers and auxiliary systems. The product uses 110μm thin wafer technology to reduce the power dissipation generated, Infineon's proprietary 1200VSiC MOSFET has extremely low gate charge and device capacitance levels at 1200V switch, reverse recovery due to internal anti-commutation body diode No losses, low temperature-independent switching losses, and threshold-independent on-state characteristics ease design integration and application design. Also, using converters at high switching frequencies can dramatically reduce the size and weight of the magnetics by up to 25%.

What is CoolSiC™ MOSFET?

The SiC MOSFETs offered by Infineon are called CoolSiCTM MOSFETs. Silicon Carbide (SiC) offers designers new flexibility to achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency and reliability. CoolSiCTM can reduce switching loss by approximately 80% and conduction loss by up to 50%, depending on load conditions compared to conventional silicon-based (Si) high-voltage switches and IGBTs. This significantly reduces operating costs with inverter efficiency levels exceeding 99%. Certain SiC properties allow implementation of comparable or better switching frequency manipulation. CoolSiC™ MOSFET devices can also reduce system cost by increasing power density.
