JANOG50 Meeting in HakodateMacnica exhibited and spoke at! Let me introduce you to the situation.

JANOG50

We had a booth on site!

JANOG is an abbreviation of JApan Network Operators' Group, and is a group that aims to contribute to a wide range of people involved in the Internet by discussing, examining, and introducing issues, knowledge, and know-how related to Internet technology and operations.

The JANOG Meeting is held once every six months, and this year's 50th meeting was held from July 13 (Wednesday) to 15 (Friday), 2022 at the Hakodate Arena in Hakodate City, Hokkaido. While the online exhibition continued for the last time and the time before last, it was the first time in a long time that we were able to exhibit at the local booth. A maximum of about 1,300 people attended the event, and we were able to exchange information with various people.

Due to the explosive expansion of IoT devices and the increasing demand for large-capacity video distribution such as 4K/8K and VR, data center networks are becoming increasingly broadband. Networks that connect devices inside and outside data centers are increasing in speed to 100G and 400G, but now that 100G is about to reach maturity, demand for 400G is expected to increase rapidly.

At Macnica booth this time, we exhibited a demonstration of long-distance (80km) transmission for 400G-ZR+, which has been attracting particular attention in recent years.

the Company employees took the stage in two programs!

In addition to the exhibition booths, JANOG50 will have lectures given by people from various companies over the three days. Three people from the Company also gave two lectures.

Thorough analysis of the effect of "return loss" in high-speed optical fiber communication! Resolve communication errors caused by reflections

Together with Mr. Fujiwara of NTT Advanced Technology Corporation, Ltd., we will explain the results of quantitative measurement using actual equipment, focusing on the eye pattern of communication errors, and the solutions to those problems. Announced. Mr. Abeno and Mr. Matsuno, who took the podium from the Company, cooperated in the measurement of the eye pattern when multiple reflections occur and explained about "reflection" that hinders optical transmission.

You can see the materials and video of this lecture on the JANOG official page. Please see the end of this article.

can you do it? 400G optical transmission?

Introduced points to note in terms of operation for 400 Gbps DCI (Data Center Interconnection). Mr. Isono from the Company participated in the gathering of people from well-known companies that are making advanced efforts in the optical communication industry, and he explained the technology of 400G-ZR quite maniacally.

Mr. Nishino from Broadband Tower Co., Ltd., Mr. Higashimatsu and Mr. Takagi from KADOKAWA Connected Co., Ltd., and Mr. Matsumoto from Information-technology Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan/SoftEther Corporation. What was particularly distinctive was the success of the 100km 400G transmission wire rate test by sharing the strengths, knowledge and equipment of each company and by cooperating beyond the organization.
