Recent devices (especially FPGAs) require multiple power supplies, making power supply design very difficult.
In addition, the power supply sequence is also determined, and recently not only the "startup" sequence but also the "shutdown" sequence has been specified. Is it really bad if I don't protect it?

With old devices, failure to follow the sequence could cause latch-up and burnout of the device, but modern devices don't have that problem, do they?
Nevertheless, I am not quite convinced that the power supply sequence must be strictly observed.

Certainly, old devices had visible problems such as burnout, so it was easy to understand the importance of power supply sequencing.
It doesn't burn out these days, but it's very troublesome because there's a problem that you can't see.

For example, what kind of problems do you encounter?

If the power supply sequence is not followed, a large rush current (*1) will flow through the device.
There is a risk of quality degradation due to large currents flowing through the device during the power on-sequence and off-sequence.

Also, a voltage drop occurs when a large rush current flows.
If the power supply voltage drops significantly due to this, the device may be reset and reconfigured, or in the worst case, the device may not boot normally.
