Many of you may have given up on conventional potentiostats and galvanostats, saying, "You can't do electrochemical analysis unless you have a full-fledged, expensive device."

 

From rack mount type to device type. The "EmStat pico" introduced here is a compact potentiostat module jointly designed by Analog Devices and PalmSens. We have developed a system-on-module type product that makes electrochemical measurements more compact and easy by adopting the ever-evolving Analog Devices ICs, centering on operational amplifiers.

 

This time, we will introduce two features of "EmStat Pico".

1. Miniaturization and low cost achieved while maintaining the accuracy of conventional potentiostats

EmStat pico is a system-on-module product that incorporates all the functions required for a potentiostat in a 18mm x 30mm size, meeting the needs of the era where miniaturization is required. System integration is designed so that it can be integrated into microcontroller-based systems with only 4 wires (5V, ground, transmit, receive).

 

For example, you can use an Arduino MKR as a master controller or use a USB-UART converter to interface with a PC. In both examples, EmStat Pico is connected using screen printed electrodes (SPE) for common electrochemical measurements such as cyclic voltammetry (CV).

2. A powerful and easy-to-use dedicated development environment that can significantly reduce development time

The EmStat Pico development board can be connected to a SOM and performs standard electrochemical measurement functions such as linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), square wave voltammetry (SWV), or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). , can be easily integrated into products with minimal development time and effort, eliminating learning curves and reducing development time.

For laboratory and test bench use, the PSTrace PC software allows you to operate EmStat Pico from your PC via a USB connection.

For OEM applications or integration into real systems, the MethodSCRIPT EmStat Pico scripting language can be used to control EmStat Pico via UART.

This unique scripting language allows human-readable scripts to program EmStat Pico to perform electrochemical functions, loops, data logging to SD, digital I/O, auxiliary value Other functions such as readouts (eg temperature), sleep and hibernate can be performed. Method script code can be generated by PSTrace or written manually.

Demonstration video of electrochemical measurements using Sensit Smart

"Sensit Smart", which was developed with EmstatPico as the core, can be connected to a smartphone as it is, and electrochemistry can be operated and measured using an APP for smartphones. In this video, we demonstrate a component analysis of coffee using "Sensit Smart".
