What are Circuits from the Lab® Reference Designs?

Analog Devices (ADI) 's Circuits from the Lab ® reference designs are all design information, software, etc. Of course, it is a solution that also includes a performance evaluation report.

Circuits from the Lab (CFTL) contributes to the performance review and time/cost reduction of our customers' projects, just like our prototype boards and evaluation reports.

The Circuits from the Lab reference design provides the following materials:

  • Comprehensive documentation including performance evaluation
  • All design data including BOM, Gerber data and software
  • Factory tested hardware

This article presents a reference design for a water quality measurement system.

Features of CN0428 Water Quality Measurement System

Electrochemical sensing for liquid analytical measurements such as pH requires the design of an analog front end for each sensor. On the other hand, there is a growing need to acquire information on multiple parameters in real time in the market.

The CN0428 Water Quality Measurement System is a complete measurement platform that meets the size, cost, and power requirements of a sensor installation. The circuit is small enough to be mounted on the back of the sensor and works with a wide variety of sensor types. In addition, integrated measurement functions are available to improve the reliability of primary measurements. In addition, the circuit also has the ability to perform health checks that can reduce system maintenance costs.

In this article, we will discuss three key features of the CN0428 water measurement system:

  1. Interposer board allows measurement with up to 4 sensors
  2. Multiple electrochemical parameters can be measured by firmware selection
  3. Uses microcontroller with integrated precision analog front-end for electrochemical sensors

1. Interposer board allows multiple parameter measurements on up to 4 shields

The CN0428 Water Quality Measurement System consists of the following boards:

  • EVAL-CN0428-EBZ: Sensor board
  • EVAL-M355-ARDZ-INT: Arduino Compatible Interposer
  • EVAL-ADICUP3029: Arduino Compatible Form Factor

EVAL-M355-ARDZ-INT can operate up to 4 sensor boards simultaneously.

EVAL-ADICUP3029 adopts ADI's Arm® Cortex®-M3 ultra-low power MCU ADuCM3029 and CrossCore Embedded Studio, an open source Eclipse-based development environment. CrossCore Embedded Studio includes many example hardware and software projects, making it easy to prototype and develop connected systems and solutions for IoT applications.
