MEMS accelerometer evaluation board ideal for remote monitoring

Overview

The EVAL-ADXL355Z is an evaluation board for the MEMS acceleration sensor "ADXL355" provided by Analog Devices.

The ADXL355 is a 3-axis accelerometer with a digital interface and selectable measurement ranges of ±2g, ±4g, and ±8g. It has high accuracy, low power consumption, low noise density, and a temperature range of -40 to 125°C.

for that reason,

  • Structure monitoring
  • Attitude control for drones, etc.
  • Condition monitoring equipment
  • Incorporation into wireless products

This is the perfect product for users considering .

Three reasons for high-precision measurement

The ADXL355 is a highly accurate accelerometer that can measure even the slightest vibration. There are three reasons.

Reason 1. Low 0g offset drift

Sensors generally experience a phenomenon called drift. This is a phenomenon where a value is output from the sensor even though the internal sensor is not operating at all. This output variation amount is the drift. The higher the value of this drift, the worse the sensor accuracy.

However, the ADXL355 has a ±25 mg measurement range on all axes and a ±2 g measurement range. Additionally, the drift over temperature is only ±0.02mg/°C.

Reason 2. Ultra-low noise density

Use analog, low-pass, anti-aliasing filters to reduce out-of-band noise and limit bandwidth. The noise density of the ADXL355 is only 25g/Hz. Therefore, it is possible to capture minute vibrations.

Reason 3. High resolution with 20-bit ADC

The ADXL355 is equipped with a 20-bit Σ-Δ ADC, which provides high resolution. In addition, noise performance can be maintained by processing with a digital filter after the ADC.

Therefore, it is possible to measure minute vibrations such as very low-volume 30Hz tone signals output from speakers, making it suitable for situation monitoring equipment and structure monitoring.

Digital interface for easy connection with a microcomputer

This acceleration sensor "ADXL355" is equipped with SPI and I2C digital interfaces.
Therefore, it can be directly interfaced with common microcontrollers.

Hermetic package with excellent moisture resistance

The ADXL355 uses a hermetic package. This package has excellent airtight performance, high moisture resistance, and adapts to external environments such as dust.

Therefore, it can operate stably even in harsh environments such as situation monitoring equipment and structure monitoring.

Ready-to-try evaluation board EVAL-ADXL355Z

The dedicated evaluation board for ADXL355 is "EVAL-ADXL355Z".

This evaluation board can be easily attached to the board that the user wants to evaluate.

Additionally, it supports PMOD interface, so if you have a microcontroller board equipped with PMOD interface such as Arduino, you can start evaluation immediately.
