What is the high-frequency MEMS acceleration sensor evaluation board that is ideal for vibration measurement?

Overview

EVAL-ADXL1001Z is an evaluation board provided by Analog Devices for immediately evaluating the MEMS acceleration sensor "ADXL1001".

ADXL1001 is a planar 1-axis, analog output acceleration sensor. This product has a wide linear frequency response range of DC to 11 kHz and an ultra-low noise density of 30 μg/√Hz in the ±100 g range.

Therefore, especially

  • Currently, I want to reduce the cost by using piezoelectric acceleration sensing.
  • I want to monitor pairing problems
  • I want to monitor the condition of other wear machine equipment
  • I want to incorporate it into wireless products

This product is ideal for engineers.

Lower cost and smaller size than piezoelectric acceleration sensors

Conventional MEMS acceleration sensors had insufficient noise performance, so they could not meet the specifications required for vibration measurement.

However, Analog Devices' ADXL1001 now has noise performance at high frequencies that is comparable to PZT technology.

Therefore, the reliability, quality, repeatability, low cost, and compactness of MEMS can be adopted in condition monitoring products.

MEMS acceleration sensors, which are smaller and lower cost than piezoelectric acceleration sensors, are now available.

Reliability can be improved by understanding signs of failure

Common wear mechanisms such as pairings, gears, chains, belts, brushes, shafts, coils, and valves wear out over time and require maintenance, maintenance, and replacement.

By using the MEMS acceleration sensor ADXL1001, you can measure vibrations and detect abnormal vibration frequencies, making it possible to avoid failures.

If FFT calculation (Fourier transform) is performed in the subsequent signal processing from the acceleration sensor, checking for abnormal vibration frequencies can be greatly simplified.

Simple evaluation board "EVAL-ADXL1001Z" for quick evaluation

EVAL-ADXL1001Z is a simple evaluation board with a size of "2 cm x 2 cm".
There are screw holes in the four corners, so that you can start evaluation immediately by firmly fixing it to a mechanical shaker or the like.

What you can do with this evaluation board

The EVAL-ADXL1001Z is equipped with the MEMS acceleration sensor ADXL1001 and can be evaluated at ±100g, linear frequency response range: DC to 11 kHz.

You can mainly check the following three things.

1. Measurement mode
Evaluation can be performed in normal operation mode. Continuous analog output confirms active monitoring.
You can usually evaluate your application in this mode.

2.Stayby mode
In this mode, measurements are paused and current consumption can be reduced to 225μA.
Switching from standby mode to measurement mode takes less than 50μs.

3. On-demand self-test
It works by activating the ST pin.
This feature allows you to electrostatically activate the proof mass inside the device to test its electrical response.

Additionally, an RC low-pass filter is provided at the output. Parts can be removed. It is possible to implement a low-pass filter on the output of the device to suit your application.

Application example

  • Condition monitoring
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Asset health monitoring
  • Measuring device
  • HUMS (Health Monitoring System)
