What are the features of the HMC472A?
The main features of the HMC472A step attenuator exhibited by Analog Devices at Microwave Expo 2015 are as follows:
- Band: DC to 3.8GHz
- Attenuation variable in 0.5dB steps from 0 to 31.5dB
- V1-V6 pins control internal attenuator
- Control line is TTL/CMOS compatible
- Step error: ±0.25dB (typical)
- Operates from a single +5V supply
Some examples include:
In addition to the features that can be found on the manufacturer's website, there is some characteristic data that we would like you to check on the data sheet.
1. Stable and low return loss in all bands
In the frequency band above 100MHz, it is -19dB or less.
2. Excellent attenuation flatness in all bands
At maximum attenuation (31.5dB), the error increases slightly in the range of 200MHz to 800MHz, but the error is extremely low in other bands.
3. Less error with respect to set values in the band of 100MHz or more
This graph shows the attenuation error when switching the range from 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps. It is similar to the INL of an ADC/DAC, and shows the error for all settings.
HMC472A is a step attenuator that shows good characteristics over the entire band!!
Exhibit at Microwave Exhibition 2015
At Microwave Exhibition 2015, we exhibited a demo in which a step attenuator (HMC472A) is used to attenuate the signal output from a signal generator that achieves broadband, high output, and low cost by limiting its functions. I did.
