Introduction

If you decide to evaluate a chip SIM and purchase/contract a sample, you will end up with a surface-mount electronic component.
However, when you actually try to use it, you will encounter technical hurdles such as "How do I mount it on the board?" and "How do I set up the evaluation environment?"
This story is about solving that problem.

Preferably without using a soldering iron

Chip SIMs use a package called MFF2.

Although it is not a major package like QFN or DIP, it is standardized as a chip SIM, so we investigated whether there were any suitable sockets or conversion cables on the market.

Finally, I found one company. It's a product from the German company COMPRION.

In Japan, Musashino Bussan Co., Ltd. is the domestic distributor. I couldn't find any other suitable sockets / conversion cables, so it seems like your options are limited.

When using it, you will need to combine a socket board called the MFF2 Plug Adaptor with a flat cable called the Flex Adaptor.

The Flex Adaptor has a cable with a SIM card-shaped end that can be inserted directly into a SIM card slot or connector.

There are several types of Flex Adapters available, depending on the size of the SIM card and the position of the diagonal cut.
