Spark to Ship - Turning the spark of inspiration into the power to get things moving

September 25, 2025, Komore Yotsuya, Tokyo.
More than 70 participants gathered to begin the challenge of using AI tools to give shape to their own "sparks."

The CAF × Macnica AI Hackathon is more than just a study session.
This is an experiential program that takes small discomforts felt in the course of daily work or thoughts of "I wish it was like this" and turns them into concrete "shape" through collaboration between AI and the team.

AI is enabling anyone to become a creator

The day was led by Dr. Diana Joseph, CEO of the Silicon Valley open innovation community Corporate Accelerator Forum (CAF).
As a learning scientist with over 30 years of experience studying the relationship between people and technology, she says:

For 30 years, I have been thinking about how people will accept and use technology. I am excited to be standing at the beginning of an era in which anyone can "create" in the digital world. This hackathon was designed as a place where anyone, regardless of programming experience, could create something that would solve their own problems with AI.

Regarding the first event in Japan, she said:

It is a great pleasure to be able to realize the initiatives we have undertaken in Silicon Valley in Japan. We provide an opportunity for people to change their way of thinking and discover a new self to move forward in an uncertain world.

"Spark to Ship" by Macnica

The meeting between Nishimura of Macnica, who introduced this program to Japan, and Diana began with a conversation in Silicon Valley.

The moment I heard about her efforts, I thought, "This is it." Rather than teaching AI, I wanted people to experience the change in themselves through experience. I felt that this was what Japanese companies needed most right now.

Together with CAF, we planned Japan's first Vibe Coding Hackathon.

Vibe Coding is a new creative style that goes beyond traditional programming concepts and allows you to directly shape your own thoughts through dialogue with AI. We focused on designing an experience that conveys passion, rather than a formality. We wanted to create more than just a seminar; we wanted to create a moment where anyone could become a creator. Together with Diana, we redesigned the structure of the experience from scratch.

On the day, participants from a variety of industries and occupations came together, and it was a day where their individual sparks intersected.

70 Sparks, 70 Ways of Creation

In the afternoon, the atmosphere suddenly became heated.
70 Sparks come together and many ideas take shape.
"An app that analyzes and visualizes large amounts of tabular data in seconds"
"An app that automatically creates a weekly menu and shopping list, making shopping and eating more efficient."
"An app that displays multiple shipping routes by inputting the departure point, destination, and information about the ship you own."
It was the moment when AI made everyone a creator.

Experience creates change.

This workshop is not a place to compete ideas.
It is a place that starts with "what you feel" and "discovers through creation."
Rather than "learning" about AI, we "think together."
This experience will be the first step in bringing about change in organizations and people.

The future begins with as many inspirations as there are

Now that AI is no longer a special technology, what's important is not "what to create" but "whether we can continue to create."
And right now, there must be a spark within you that has yet to take shape.
Why not take that as your next step?

For those who want to hold this workshop in their own company or local area

Macnica supports the implementation and co-hosting of the "Vibe Coding Workshop" for companies, local governments, and educational institutions.
This is a program that cultivates creative power through experience in the age of AI.
