Companies are increasingly turning to AI to improve critical processes and move faster in today's ever-rapid marketplace. AI can help save time and money, from automating back-office operations, to rapidly expanding product catalogs and prioritizing human actions in the workplace, to increasing the speed with which companies can take highly profitable initiatives. It can be deployed in various ways. Regardless of company size or industry, AI adoption is extremely valuable.

Once the company is ready to introduce AI, it will be possible to gradually increase the amount of automated tasks and save time and money.

However, AI implementation cannot be achieved instantaneously. Be prepared to ensure that the solution you choose for your business is correct and that it can benefit your business in the way you envisioned.

How do you decide when your business is ready to start using AI? The questions below can give you a clearer picture of where your business currently stands on the AI roadmap.

Question 1. What about moving to the cloud?

The move from onsite data storage to cloud data storage may seem like it has nothing to do with AI, but it is actually the cornerstone of effective digital transformation. Storing data in the cloud enables businesses to:

  1. Being faster and more agile is already a goal in the AI implementation process. Today, the average customer needs on-demand access to services and products, so being cloud-based makes it much easier to meet those needs.

  2. More security is guaranteed. The cloud not only enhances the trust and security of your data and customer data, it also provides trusted individuals with a more secure interface to help implement AI solutions. Data transfer is mandatory and exchanging data through the cloud is one of the more secure options.

Question 2. Is it structured data?

Data structuring is a critical first step in AI adoption for many companies. The average business stores a large amount of data, often already in the cloud these days. But most of the time, business data is completely unstructured and unusable by even the best AI applications. AI needs accessible structured data to provide accurate solutions. Data that is not carefully organized, such as taxonomy, tagging, etc., cannot be used to advantage.

Fortunately, even when companies have huge data backlogs or constant streams of new data, they can leverage the latest in deep learning and machine learning, customized for their specific taxonomies and purposes. Thanks to auto-tagging and auto-classification solutions, you can start organizing your data efficiently. For example, even if your ultimate goal is to identify objects within a video file, implementing an automatic data tagging solution will allow you to leverage all your old data and have structured data that is useful for all that matters to your business. Experience shows that many companies have a backlog of unstructured data, growing by 55-65% each year, so now is the perfect time to start structuring.

Question 3. Are your expectations realistic?

Having a clear understanding of your AI goals and a complete plan for AI implementation, scale, and growth is critical. Many people and industries may feel uneasy about losing their jobs as AI “superseds” human jobs. In reality, however, AI will be able to work alongside humans and do tasks that humans are not good at more efficiently.

AI is adept at helping humans make decisions through repetitive tasks and various predictions using data. Done right, AI frees up human workers to do more important things: creative problem-solving and innovation.

As most companies face some degree of uncertainty in today's market, one goal of any AI implementation strategy is to achieve continuous improvement and scalability. AI works by employing continuous machine learning capabilities so that the solution can always adapt to new data and new situations. These feedback loops allow self-tuning to ensure continued accuracy in the face of sudden changes.

As AI becomes more ubiquitous and the market continues to change, nearly every business will have to look to AI to ensure its success, growth and remain relevant to new and existing customers. You won't get it. With a solid foundation and expectations, and using AI in the right way, businesses will be able to reach their full potential.
