NTT Group's autonomous driving Assistance Service: Background to Entry and Future Aims

As the aging population and declining birthrate continue to make the labor shortage more pronounced throughout society, the driver shortage is becoming an even more serious social issue due to the 2024 problem. As one of the means to solve such problems, it is believed that the use of autonomous driving services will be essential in the future. In order to contribute to solving this problem, the NTT Group is working on various initiatives related to autonomous driving support services. In this session, we will introduce our efforts with May Mobility, a leading American autonomous driving technology company in which we invested in November 2023 and acquired exclusive sales rights in Japan.

autonomous driving EV bus

We will make proposals tailored to the characteristics of the region in order to realize "Level 4 operation" and "regular operation" in the future. After implementation, we will make proposals to build a service that is easy for users to use while supporting the social implementation of new mobility services (MaaS creation) by promoting data integration with existing public transportation networks.

everfleet

In autonomous driving, where the driver is not present, it is necessary to remotely monitor and control the vehicle's location and the conditions inside and outside the vehicle in real time. The remote operation management system can centrally manage the operation of various local mobility vehicles. By increasing the number of vehicles managed by a single remote operator, we can achieve greater efficiency in operation operations.

Digital Map

We support the creation of original digital maps that are flexible and tailored to the target audience and purpose, such as tourists and residents.Unlike paper maps, we provide various functions such as the distribution of real-time information such as the location and congestion status of moving objects such as buses and cruise ships, as well as the distribution of electronic coupons, reservations, and payments, all from a single map.

Generative AI Avatar Concierge

Aiming to improve the riding experience on autonomous driving buses, we provide a conversational concierge service using generative AI. In addition to boarding directions and everyday conversation, we can also store unique information on a local server and customize it to provide local and event information. In the future, we aim to link with in-vehicle cameras to provide more detailed services.
