Does DDR3 IP support x16 mode for DQ/DQS on Stratix V? Also, if the IP does not support x16 mode, is it possible to use x16 mode with a user-written controller/PHY?
DDR3 IP does not support x16 DQ/DQS groups.
But when using x16 DDR3 memory device, DDR3 device in x16 mode has DQS divided into UDQS (upper DQS) and LDQS (lower DQS), each with 8 bit DQ.
In this case, the relationship between DQS and DQ is as follows.
・LQDS[0]: DQ0 to 7
・UDQS[0]: DQ8 to 15
Therefore, when using x16 devices with Altera IP, keep the MegaWizard Plug-In Manager set to x8 mode (only x8 can be selected), and set the DQ / DQS group in Pin Planner to x8 mode as well.
