ROHM Co., Ltd. has developed an Nch power MOSFET that achieves industry-leading* low on-resistance and high SOA tolerance for power supplies for high-performance enterprise servers and AI servers.
The new products are the RS7E200BG (30V), which is ideal for the secondary side of AC-DC conversion circuits in 12V system power supplies used in high-performance servers for enterprises, and for hot swap controller (HSC) circuits.
There are three models in total: "RS7N200BH (80V)" and "RS7N160BH (80V)," which are ideal for the secondary side of the AC-DC conversion circuit of the 48V system power supply used in AI servers.
Both new products use the newly developed DFN5060-8S (5.0mm x 6.0mm) package, which increases the chip area within the package by approximately 65% compared to the conventional HSOP8 (5.0mm x 6.0mm) package. This achieves industry-leading on-resistance characteristics of 0.53mΩ (Typ.) for the 30V product "RS7E200BG" and 1.7mΩ (Typ.) for the 80V product "RS7N200BH" in a 5.0mm x 6.0mm package size, greatly contributing to higher efficiency in server power circuits.
In addition, the clip design inside the package has been improved to improve heat dissipation, improving the SOA tolerance, which contributes to ensuring application reliability. In particular, the 30V product "RS7E200BG" has an SOA tolerance of 70A or more (conditions: pulse width = 1ms, VDS = 12V), which is twice as high as the conventional HSOP8 package product under the same conditions, achieving an industry-leading high SOA tolerance in a package size of 5.0mm x 6.0mm.
