Introducing a new current sensor that takes advantage of digital compatibility and features high accuracy, high stability, and electrical insulation.

Riverside, Calif. — November 3, 2025 — Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, announced the new SSD-1000A series digital current sensor. This new product features a highly integrated, compact shunt-based design and supports a wide current range from 100A to 1000A. It offers excellent accuracy, stability, and electrical isolation, and maintains high performance over a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +115°C. These features make it ideal for a wide range of applications requiring operation in harsh environments, including battery management systems, renewable energy, motor drives, and EV charging stations.

The SSD-1000A Series is equipped with a 16-bit microcontroller (MCU) that achieves ±0.1% full-scale accuracy, contributing to efficient power utilization. Furthermore, the built-in 24-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) allows for easy plug-and-play implementation, significantly reducing design effort. This allows engineers to quickly add high-precision current measurement functionality to new designs or retrofit existing products. The SSD-1000A Series is available in two models: an RS-485 serial interface model (which can also be configured as MODBUS RTU) and a customizable CANbus model. An internal 120Ω termination resistor is also available as an option to further simplify circuit design.

The Bourns® SSD-1000A Digital Current Sensor Series is currently available and is RoHS compliant.
