Jitter

The figure on the right shows Jitter's classification.

Orange boxes are Jitter related to Data, and Jitter indicated by blue boxes are Jitter related to Clock.

・Total Jitter

Total Jitter is the sum of Deterministic Jitter and Random Jitter.

・Random Jitter
Random Jitter is generated by external factors (thermal noise, etc.), and peak-peak
Since it can take infinite values, it is usually expressed as rms.

・Deterministic Jitter
Different from Random Jitter, Deterministic Jitter has various factors as shown in the right figure.
consists of However, while Random Jitter was infinite,
Since the generated Jitter is finite, the Peak-Peak Jitter is expressed as
it is normal.

・Periodic Jitter
Periodic Jitter, also known as Cycle to Cycle Jitter, refers to Jitter that occurs periodically. A typical factor is power supply ripple.

The part indicated by the orange box shows data pattern, reflection by transmission lines (including wiring on the board), and Jitter caused by crosstalk, so I won't talk about it here.
