ADI's LT830X series reduces design man-hours by using general-purpose transformers
The LT830X series from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) is a flyback regulator with a built-in switch that reduces design time by using a general-purpose transformer.
Using this product will contribute to miniaturization, space savings, and design simplification that were not possible with conventional devices.
In addition, by using a reference-registered transformer manufactured by Wurth Electronics as a general-purpose transformer, reliability and supply stability can be further improved.
Features of the LT830X series flyback regulator with built-in switch
The LT830X series has the following features:
・Achieves regulation of ±5% or less over the entire input, load, and temperature range
- Allows the use of smaller transformers compared to equivalent continuous conduction mode designs
・Low output ripple Burst Mode operation maintains high efficiency even at light loads
・Output voltage can be easily set using one external resistor and transformer turns ratio
・A general-purpose transformer with a fixed turns ratio and inductance value can be used.
Realization of cost reduction and early introduction to the market with general-purpose transformers from Wurth Electronics
The most time-consuming part of designing an isolated DC/DC converter is selecting the transformer.
Generally isolated power supplies often require a custom design for the transformer, but the LT830X series can use a general-purpose transformer, so it can be easily isolated by combining it with the reference parts listed in the data sheet. The power supply can be configured.
The LT830X datasheet references transformers from multiple manufacturers. Among them, Wurth Electronics, which is also included in the demo board and serves as a reference for power inductors, offers the following advantages.
・Reduce costs by selecting from a wide variety of standard products
・Significantly reduces evaluation man-hours with reference products
・In principle, no discontinuity is required, and design changes due to EOL are not required.
Complete with LTspice model
In addition to the LT830X series model, we also have a model for the Wurth Electronics transformer, allowing you to simulate in an environment closer to the actual machine.
