The other day, we invited a machine tool manufacturer with whom we have a relationship and held a technical exchange meeting.
The technical exchange meeting will be held in the following 4 programs, and on this page, the 4th program "[Special Lecture] Fighting the world with value change-from the long-established restaurant 'Ebiya' in Ise to 'EBILAB', one of the world's leading AI companies." I will introduce the contents of "Why I was able to change."

How did you launch a service model as the world market changed from selling goods to selling services?
Ryuji Tokiwagi gave a talk based on the success story of Ebiya.

About Tokiwagi-sama
Joined Tenda in 2001. I joined a bank DC as an engineer in the SES business, but I felt uncomfortable with "work for the sake of work" where unnecessary man-hours for document creation were paid, so I planned and launched the automatic manual creation software Dojo. Constructed a product business from scratch, including partners, direct sales force, product planning, and training, and contributed to profits.
After that, he changed jobs to B-EN-G (currently Toyo Business Engineering) and achieved Japan's first cloud-based mission-critical system.

After that, after joining SAP as an evangelist for the first time to fill the gap between the world and Japan's IT business, he has received multiple orders for ultra-large projects with door-opening and closing power that hits widely from top management to the site. Currently, he has moved to Okinawa and holds events to make the cloud business in Okinawa successful. active.

About "Ebiya" and "EBILAB"

Ebiya is a small restaurant that has changed with the times in the tourist area of Ise for about 150 years.
Six years ago, we considered downsizing the restaurant business and converting it to tenants. I started to develop.

In 2018, we will launch “EBILAB” to sell tools for the systems used in Ebiya.

Solving problems in the service industry with the power of technology

・Faster service delivery
・Working style that allows high income and vacation time
・Trade better products at fair prices
・Use the power of data to find what people want and give shape to ideas

With these goals in mind, we actively incorporated the latest technology into the service industry and promoted reforms.

First, by realizing visitor prediction using AI, we will be able to speed up menu provision, reduce waste loss, and reduce ordering work man-hours, and will succeed in reforming restaurant operations.
For things that cannot be obtained as data, we develop new IoT products and visualize them.
In addition, we use image analysis AI to grasp the attributes of customers entering the store, derive the store entrance rate from the number of people who pass the road in front of the store, and implement product development logic and evidence-based sales strategies that match store attributes. Open a souvenir shop.

The important thing is the UI screen of the system.
In order to utilize data and AI, it is important to create a system UI that employees can continue to use, and to create an environment where employees can constantly touch the system and think strategically about plans.

Selling the system used in-house as a service

人手不足の時代により良いサービスを提供すること、働き方改革ができるように「ゑびや」を成功に導いたAIシステムやIoT製品をサブスクリプション型のサービスとして飲食店業界に提供します。

as CTO

Since new technologies are born every day, it is necessary to create a system that aims for a design that allows them rather than excluding them, eliminates customization, and minimizes dependence as much as possible.
In addition, Mr. Tokiwagi says that it is important for everyone to work with the mindset of a field engineer in order to eliminate the barriers between reality and technology.
He had a strong sense of mission to revitalize all of Japan.

Listening to this lecture, I felt that it is essential for the future growth of companies to always challenge new technologies without hesitation and adopt them flexibly.
